Sweepolet – Detailed Product Introduction
Definition and Structure
-
A Sweepolet is a type of “O-let” branch connection fitting (other common types include Weldolet, Sockolet, and Thredolet).
-
It is a contoured, integrally reinforced, butt-weld branch connection used to create an outlet from a run pipe (header) to a branch pipe.
-
Compared with a traditional Tee fitting, a Sweepolet provides a smoother flow transition and significantly reduces stress concentration on the main pipe.
Its swept and elongated shape offers better reinforcement and longer fatigue life under cyclic loading conditions.

Weldolet — Detailed Product Introduction
Definition & Structure
-
-
A Weldolet is a forged branch-outlet fitting used to create a branch connection from a larger “run” (main) pipe to a smaller (or same size) branch pipe.
-
It is typically a butt-weld branch connection: one end is welded to the run pipe, the other end is matched and welded to the branch pipe.
-
The run pipe is usually of larger diameter (“header” or “main”), and the Weldolet is welded onto it with a hole and bevel, then the branch pipe is welded into or onto the Weldolet.
-
Its design emphasises integral reinforcement (the fitting itself provides strength and reinforcement at the branch junction) and aims to minimise stress concentration at the joint.
-
Key Differences Between Sweepolet and Weldolet
| Feature | Weldolet | Sweepolet |
|---|---|---|
| Design Shape | Short, compact with direct weld contour | Long, smooth, sweeping transition |
| Stress Distribution | Suitable for standard pressure pipelines | Provides lower stress concentration at weld junction |
| Fluid Flow Performance | Moderate flow disturbance | Optimized for smooth fluid transition, minimizing turbulence |
| Application Pressure Range | High and medium pressure | Ideal for high-pressure and critical systems |
| Installation | Simple and cost-efficient | Slightly more complex but offers higher performance |
| Best Used In | General oil, gas, and water piping systems | Refineries, power plants, offshore pipelines, and high-temperature |
Applications
Both fittings are widely used in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, offshore engineering, and refinery systems — wherever durable and leak-free branch connections are required.
